Greetings from the Ottawa Software Quality Association (OSQA). No meetings in
June, July and August. Suits me well, I'm off on vacation for a month, starting

3. The June 2008 issue of CrossTalk, The Journal of Defense Software
Engineering, is now available on this Web site at http://www.stsc.hill.af.mil.
The theme of this issue is Software Quality.
 
This month we feature articles discussing software quality. The theme section
includes three articles that discuss the software quality challenge, measuring
defect potentials and defect removal efficiency, and using quality processes to
yield quality products.  In the Software Engineering Technology section, you
can find two articles discussing the use and limitations of static-analysis tools
to improve software quality, and the advances in automated combinatorial test
methods.  The Open Forum section features an article dealing with the many
layers of software quality.

4. We would like to organize a course in September in association with QAI
Canada. Please send an e-mail to suggestions@osqa.org or contact Al Phomin at
613-667-9692 for more information and registration if you'd be interested. We
would offer a substantial discound for OSQA members (30%, already included in
the price below). The two courses are:
 
September 15-17:        Essentials of Software Testing (3 days for $1200)
 
September 28-19:        Effective Methods of User Acceptance Testing (2 days
                                    for $800).

5. The 3rd Annual Conference of the Association of Software Testing (CAST) 2008
is this year in Toronto. It had such overwhelming demand for Jerry Weinberg's
Tester's Communications Clinic that they've added an extra day to the
conference to accommodate a second presentation of the workshop, Thursday, July 17
