Instead, quality-focused processes and activities must be integrated into all stages of the software development lifecycle. This presentation will discuss challenges in testing that come from increasing complexity, and decreasing test coverage, and best practices for defining, measuring, managing, and improving software quality. Real-world examples and solutions will be reviewed to illustrate the state-of-the-art of manual and automated testing technologies and how they can be deployed to maximize impact on an organization. In this session, you will learn: - the new testing crisis - increasing complexity and decreasing test coverage; - the use of automation throughout the development lifecycle to improve quality; - the use of requirements based testing to increase test coverage; - how to implement test automation so it works and is cost effective; - partial vs. full automation: portability, maintainability and reliability benefits; - why test automation fails: The traps people fall into; - why regression is only a small portion of a test automation practice; and - the future of testing and test automation. Who Should Attend: This session will be of interest to those involved in any stage of the software development lifecycle, with specific appeal to those involved in QA testing and requirements management. Participants will benefit from: a broader understanding of the problems that are beginning to overwhelm testing today; a full understanding of test automation, and how to use it for maximum benefit; and a look at the future of testing and test automation.
